The course, not a symbol

The route line follows the course you actually ran, and the surface underneath carries the real terrain. A hilly race looks like a hilly race. It's modeled from public elevation and GPS data, so all we need from you is the name of the race.

Name, race and date across the top. Time, pace and distance along the bottom. Raised lettering, not a printed label, and you never have to work out your pace, because we calculate it from your time and distance.

The medal on the front

The front is open, so the medal hangs where you can see it and lift it. The ribbon threads through a slot in the plate and secures behind. Any thickness fits, up to 4.5" across, square medals included.

Made one at a time, in California

Nothing is sitting in a warehouse. When an order comes in we locate the course, build the terrain surface from elevation data, set the lettering, and make the piece. That's why it takes days rather than shipping the same afternoon.

There's no catalog of pre-made races to pick from. Yours is built for your race, and if your course is obscure enough that we can't find it, we'll email you and sort it out.

Why this exists

I run, and most of my friends run, and every one of us has a shoe box full of medals.

Medals from races that took months to train for. Early mornings. Long runs in bad weather. Finish lines we can all still picture. Every one of them earned, and every one of them shut in a closet where nobody sees it.

Mine sat there for years before it occurred to me that was strange. So I built what they deserved: the course you ran, the stats from that day, and the medal itself, out on a wall. The route sits raised on the real terrain you covered, hills and all.

Choose "I'll add them later" and order now. Your confirmation email includes a private link to pass along. They add their own name, race, date, and finish time whenever they're ready, and tell us where to send it. There's no deadline, and the order stays fully refundable until those details come in, because nothing has been made yet.

Before you order

Will you have my race?

Almost certainly. Give us the race name and we find and model the course from public route data. That covers everything from major city marathons down to small local events. In the rare case we can't locate yours, we'll email you and sort it out together.

How long until it arrives?

Every display is modeled and made after you order, so it isn't instant. Most orders ship in about 3 business days, and you'll get a tracking link the moment yours goes out. If anything is running long, we'll email you rather than leave you guessing.

Will my medal fit?

If it's under 4.5" across, yes, including square medals and oversized ones. The front is open, so thickness is never a problem. The ribbon threads through a slot in the plate and secures to hooks on the back, so nothing bunches up.

Will my race name fit?

The plate holds up to 22 characters per line, which covers the everyday name of nearly every race. Longer sponsored titles get shortened. Most runners prefer the short form anyway, and it reads better on a wall. Email support@tanso-works.com before ordering if you'd like help choosing.

What if I don't know their race details?

Choose "I'll add them later" on this page before adding to cart. Your confirmation email includes a private link to pass along, and they fill in their details and shipping address whenever they're ready. There's no deadline, and the order stays fully refundable until those details arrive.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Yes. Free cancellation within 24 hours of ordering, or any time before we start modeling your course, whichever is later. If you spot a mistake in your details, email support@tanso-works.com and we'll correct it before anything is made. Because every display is made for one runner and one race, we can't accept returns or refund an order once production has started.

What if it arrives damaged?

Send us a photo within 60 days and we'll make a new one and ship it free.

How does it hang?

Two keyhole slots on the back, spaced for two standard screws or nails. We don't include them, since everyone's wall is different. If you'd rather not put holes in the wall, thick double-sided mounting tape holds it and comes off clean, which is what most renters use. It also stands on its own on any flat surface.

Where do you ship?

Anywhere in the US, free, tracked and insured. We don't ship internationally.
